Tragic Sibling Stabbing in Ohangwena Region
Police in the Ohangwena region have opened a murder case against a 12-year-old boy following the fatal stabbing of his 18-year-old brother, Nathanael Johannes. The tragic incident occurred around 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Ondobe Yomunghudi village.
Ohangwena police spokesperson Warrant Officer Andreas Nghiyolwa confirmed the details, stating that the suspect was asleep when his mother and older brother arrived home. He reportedly woke up as their argument escalated.
According to Nghiyolwa, the dispute began earlier that evening at a local cuca shop, where the elder brother allegedly argued with their mother over a jar of tombo, a traditional brew. The conflict continued at home, prompting the younger brother to intervene on his mother’s behalf. This intervention quickly escalated into a physical altercation between the two siblings.
During the fight, the 12-year-old boy allegedly stabbed his elder brother in the chest with a knife, causing him to die at the scene.
