Shock and grief gripped the Otjomuise community on Saturday following the discovery of a 14-year-old boy who was found hanging from a tree near his family home.

The young boy has been identified as Elgen Whideline Mogle.

Police reports indicate that earlier in the day, the teenager had been sent to a nearby shop by his grandmother. Upon his return, he reportedly asked his younger sibling for a rope. When informed there was none available, he left the house.

A short while later, his lifeless body was found hanging from a tree along Beijing Street, just a few meters away from their residence.

Authorities have since transported the body to the State mortuary for a postmortem examination. The family has been notified, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
