Michael Amushelelo, a prominent member of the Landless People's Movement (LPM), has been released from police custody after his arrest on Monday following a protest at the University of Namibia (Unam) in Windhoek. The activist was detained for allegedly attempting to block the university’s entrance and causing damage to a student’s vehicle in the process.
According to Khomas regional police commander, commissioner Wilhelm Steenkamp, the incident occurred when Amushelelo, along with a group of protesters, sought to obstruct access to the Unam campus.
