Ndiyona Constituency, Livayi Village – Two men sustained injuries on Monday afternoon after being attacked by a leopard while searching for their lost cattle in the woods.
The victims, Benard Nangombe Hausiku (32) and his unidentified friend, were taken to Nyangana District Hospital following the incident. Hausiku sustained injuries to his hands, while his friend suffered a significant chest injury and underwent X-ray examinations.
Hausiku recounted the ordeal: “We were badly assaulted by the wild animal, and it was like a nightmare. The leopard attacked me first, and when my friend tried to save me with an axe, he also got attacked.”
The attack ended when someone intervened, shooting the leopard with a shotgun.
Residents of the area have been urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution, especially when venturing into the wilderness.
