Mururani, 12 January 2025 – A 63-year-old Namibian man was arrested on Sunday after being found in possession of a dry crocodile skin valued at N$43,000. The discovery was made during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted by officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism (MEFT) at the Mururani checkpoint.
Police Deputy Commissioner Elsavador Ndeunyema confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is expected to appear before the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the possession of the crocodile skin, as it may involve violations of Namibia's wildlife protection laws.
