The lifeless body of a 19-year-old boy was recovered from the Kavango River at Rundu Beach on Friday afternoon around 12:40.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday at midnight, between 1:00 and 2:00 AM.

The teenager allegedly drowned after jumping into the river while being chased by unidentified individuals. These individuals accused him of stealing alcohol from their business stand.

Police Commander Commissioner Andreas Haingura confirmed the details, explaining that the boy's actions were likely an attempt to evade the pursuers. Tragically, his decision led to his drowning.
