Police Namibia

Eenhana – A tragic incident claimed the life of a two-year-old boy on Friday evening when he accidentally fell into a water well at Oukango wa Shindjala Village, near Eenhana.

The Namibian Police (NamPol) reported the incident on Sunday through Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, Head of Public Relations. According to the police, the accident occurred around 19:00 while the child and his older brother were following their mother, who had gone to look for goats at a neighbor's house.

"While on the way, the younger child fell into a nearby well. The other brother ran to the neighbor’s house to alert the elders. Tragically, by the time they arrived, the boy had already drowned," Shikwambi stated.

The deceased has been identified as Fillipus Tangomwene.

NamPol has extended its condolences to the bereaved family, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in ensuring children's safety, especially around potentially hazardous areas such as wells and water bodies.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
