Ondangwa
– A wedding ceremony turned tragic on Saturday evening when a 57-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by lightning at around 18:00.

According to a weekend crime report, the incident occurred under a marula tree where Sheya was standing, preparing to lead a prayer for the gathering. A sudden lightning strike hit the tree, killing her instantly.

The same bolt of lightning also injured a 46-year-old woman, who was promptly rushed to Onandjokwe Hospital for treatment. Medical personnel confirmed she was discharged later that evening after receiving care.

The community expressed shock and grief over the incident, describing it as a heartbreaking moment during what was meant to be a joyful celebration.

Authorities have since urged the public to exercise caution during thunderstorms, particularly by avoiding shelter under trees or tall structures.
