A 70-year-old pensioner, Frenardo Nghindishange, will remain in custody after being denied bail on charges of raping a 32-year-old woman with a mental disability.
Nghindishange appeared before Magistrate Nelao ya France in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where State Prosecutor Justine Shiweda objected to bail. Shiweda told the court that releasing the suspect could lead to interference with witnesses and ongoing investigations.
The alleged incident took place in August 2025 at Onakankunzi Village in the Oshikoto Region.
The case was postponed to 26 March 2026 for postmortem results and further investigations. Despite the objection, Nghindishange was informed of his right to file a formal bail application.
