A tragic incident happen at Halili village in the Kapako Constituency, Kavango West region, on Friday when nine-year-old Andreas Likuwa Kanyetu drowned in the Kavango River.
According to the police, Kanyetu had gone to the river with a group of boys aged between seven and ten for a swim. The outing turned tragic when Kanyetu drowned in the water. Authorities confirmed that his next of kin have been informed.
Residents are urged to exercise caution and to ensure children are accompanied by adults when near water bodies.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
