Confirmed: Kombat crash death toll rises to three after injured victim dies
Three people have been confirmed dead following a crash that occurred about five kilometres south west of the Kombat settlement in the early hours of Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
The victims have been identified by their relatives as 24 year old Beno Naimbondi Hausiku, who was pregnant, her three year old son Athanasius Ngoma, and 28 year old Frans Kwamwanya Museke.
Museke, who was the only survivor at the scene, sustained serious injuries and was initially transferred to a hospital in Windhoek for specialised medical treatment.
He later succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, 30 July, increasing the number of fatalities from two to three.The crash reportedly occurred at around 01:10, although the circumstances leading to the accident remain under investigation.
Otjozondjupa police spokesperson Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha confirmed that all next of kin have been notified.
The tragedy has left a family mourning the loss of three lives, including a young mother, her child, and a man who fought for days after surviving the initial impact.
