Michael Amushelelo Plans Class Action Against Telecom Namibia

Michael Amushelelo

Activist Michael Amushelelo has announced plans to take legal action against Telecom Namibia, alleging the company’s negligence led to a serious breach of customer confidentiality.

This comes after  personal documents of several prominent Namibians, including NBC Board Chairperson Lazarus Jacobs, Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board CEO Nangula Uaandja, activist Michael Amushelelo, Speaker of the National Assembly Prof. Peter Katjavivi, and Minister of Health and Social Services Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, have been leaked on social media following a significant cyberattack on Telecom Namibia.

In a social media post, Amushelelo claimed that “most of our confidential information has now become public” due to Telecom Namibia’s failure to protect private data. He urged affected Namibians to join a class action lawsuit, which will be spearheaded by his legal team from Kadhila Amoomo Legal Practitioners.

Amushelelo referenced Article 13 of the Namibian Constitution, which guarantees the right to privacy, asserting that this right had been violated by the alleged data leak.
