Motorists travelling along the Rundu–Grootfontein route faced yet another reminder of the dangers posed by stray livestock, after a sedan collided with cattle near Mile 20 village on Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred at approximately 19:52, when a sedan heading from Rundu struck two cattle that were crossing the roadway. The vehicle was being driven by a 45-year-old Walvis Bay resident, who fortunately escaped injury.
However, two passengers in the car sustained injuries. A 42-year-old woman suffered a leg injury, while a 17-year-old boy sustained a head injury. Both were transported to Rundu State Hospital for further medical care.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, particularly in rural areas where animals frequently stray onto the roads, posing serious risks to motorists.
