In a recent social media post, Job Amupanda, the President of the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) movement, voiced his concern over the misplaced priorities of the youth, emphasizing their focus on securing political positions rather than advocating for national development.

In his post, he highlighted the disparity between the aspirations of the youth, who seemingly seek political roles, and the urgent needs for economic progress, reduced unemployment rates among the youth, and the overall betterment of the nation.
“The alleged ‘Youth’ says to their leaders ‘We want to be Ministers’ and NOT ‘we want to be a developed nation’, ‘we want our economy to grow’, ‘we want youth unemployment to end’ or ‘we want the Redline to be removed’! Oto Afraida taaate!” tweeted Amupanda.

This critique by the AR President comes in the wake of a statement made by Ephraim Nekongo, the Secretary of the Swapo Party Youth League, advocating for more opportunities for youth to assume ministerial and parliamentary positions. Nekongo had emphasized the capability of the youth to lead and urged for increased youth representation in governance structures.
The discourse ignited by Amupanda’s comments underscores the growing concerns about the youth’s priorities and their role in shaping the future of the nation.
