KK United FC held Rundu Chief FC 1:1 draw in Dr. Romanus Kampungu Stadium


Nkurenkuru based football club opened their Northern Stream First Division transitional league match against Rundu Chief FC last week in Dr Romanus Kampungu’s soccer field.

KK United FC was promoted from Kavango West second division league to Northen Stream First division in 2016 and remains the hope and proud football team that represents Kavango West.

Kavango Westside came from behind to held the home side 1:1 draw after Rundu Chief FC scored the early goal in the first half.

What happen

In the first half, Rundu Chief FC dominated the ball position, and miss a few golden chances before their hard-working payoff to lead with 1:0. The home side, defended in number and attacked in number and keep KK United FC in their own area.

One goal is not enough to rely on for three points if you are facing a player who is hungry to register goals.

In the second half, KK United had only 45 minutes to score or travel 130 kilometres going back home with zero points. The soccer field is full of spectators who missed local sport since Covid 19 bust in the world.

Ukwangali side turns everything for themselves, number 6,9, and 10 for KK United make a hard combination for Rundu Chief FC’s wall to withstand. Number 6, destroyed the midfield and keep busy number 10 who was playing on his right side. Number 9, who was played the number ten role, joined number 10’s side and use the side as the pass-through. The Nkurenkuru side was awarded more than 5 free-kick around Rundu Chief FC’s box.

Within 20 minutes, number 9 finds the back of the net to secure one point. Rundu Chief goalkeeper did everything to keep a clean sheet but the Number 9’s header was impossible to save.
