The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund has revealed that Namibia recorded 2,606 road crashes between January 1 and 19 October 2025, resulting in 4,216 injuries and 401 fatalities.
According to MVA Fund Chief Executive Officer Rosalia Martins-Hausiku, 67 of these crashes occurred within the past week alone. She urged all motorists and road users to remain cautious and considerate at all times, stressing that attentiveness behind the wheel can make the difference between life and death.
“Road crashes leave deep scars on families, communities, and the nation as a whole. Yet they remain largely preventable through strict adherence to traffic regulations and responsible driving,” Martins-Hausiku said.
Her remarks came after the tragic accident near Oniimbwele village in the Oshana Region on Monday, which claimed nine lives and once again underscored the urgent need for safer road practices across the country.
