A government worker has been arrested again for allegedly demanding a bribe to connect water services for a community.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) confirmed that 47-year-old Kefas Amutenya was taken into custody on 21 January 2025 at Etuli Village in the Omuntele Constituency, Oshikoto Region. He reportedly asked a resident to pay N$300 for a task he was already responsible for as part of his job at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform.
This is not his first run-in with the law. In April 2024, Amutenya was arrested for a similar case where he allegedly requested N$600 for the same service. He was out on N$2 000 bail when he was caught again.
Appearing before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on 22 January 2025, he was denied bail due to the repeated nature of his offense. The case has now been postponed to 16 July 2025 for further investigation.
