A 20-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday following the fatal stabbing of a security guard in Rundu. The incident occurred at around 11:00, and police have confirmed the victim as 29-year-old Sivamba Pius Muyambo. His family has been notified of his death.
Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu of the Kavango East regional crime investigation unit said the suspect was having a meal near the mall’s toilets when Muyambo, employed by Myloje Security Company, approached him and suggested he find a more appropriate spot. The suspect allegedly reacted by pulling out an okapi knife and stabbing Muyambo in the neck. Muyambo attempted to pursue the suspect but collapsed due to severe blood loss and later died at the hospital.
The suspect has been arrested, and the weapon used in the attack has been recovered. Police investigations are still ongoing.
