ACC confirms arrest of four police officers over alleged bail bribery – The Updated World

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has officially confirmed the arrest of four members of the Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) in connection with allegations of corruption involving bail decisions.

According to ACC spokesperson Marina Matundu, the officers, all from the Serious Crime Investigation Unit, are accused of soliciting bribes from individuals in police custody in return for recommending or granting bail.

“The matter came to our attention on 3 August 2018, when a whistleblower—an accused in a NAMPOL criminal case—reported that officers were requesting payments as inducements to influence bail outcomes,” Matundu explained.

The four officers were taken into custody on 20 and 21 October 2025 and appeared before the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court the following day. Frans Nakangombe, 43, was granted bail of N$10,000, while Errky Nekwaya (51), Stephanus Ndeshipanda Amatundu (47), and Gabriel Useb Nduma (45) were each released on bail of N$4,000.

The ACC emphasized that investigations are ongoing and that the arrests underscore the Commission’s commitment to tackling corruption within law enforcement agencies.
