Tuutileni Miika, the Henning Crusher employee accused of a deadly workplace shooting, appeared before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he claimed prolonged mistreatment at work drove him to commit the act.
Miika, 49, faces serious charges including murder, attempted murder, theft, assault by threat, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He is accused of fatally shooting production manager John Myburgh, 43, and critically injuring mechanical manager Johan Richter, 44, during an incident in October last year.
During his court appearance, Miika told the court that years of workplace abuse caused his “mind to escape,” leaving him unaware of his actions at the time of the incident.
Despite the charges, Miika indicated that he will plead not guilty. His formal bail application, which began on Tuesday, has been postponed and will resume today.
