Addy’s Photo Studio in Kehemu, Rundu, allegedly forging national documents and academic qualifications. The studio’s owner, Addy Kasanga Maseka (24), along with Joseph Kasanga Ngazi (30) and Frank Kasera (21), with school learners appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, facing charges of fraud and forgery. The trio was denied bail as investigations continue.

The arrests stem from allegations that a business is charging fees to alter non-promotional report cards. One case involved a learner from Dr. Romanus Kamunoko Secondary School, whose report card was reportedly tampered with for a fee.

Christine Shilima, the Director of Education in Kavango East, announced on Thursday that her office is taking firm action against learners accused of altering their report cards to fraudulently progress to higher grades.

Shilima made it clear that all culprits will face the consequences. “Learners who were arrested will return to their respective schools and repeat the grades they failed last year. Whether they like it or not, they must repeat,” she stated.

So far, three schools allegedly involved, Dr. Romanus Kampungu, Dr. Romanus Kamunoko, and Ndama Combined Schools have reported incidents of forged report cards. The Directorate of Education is investigating further to identify more cases, including learners who may have transferred to other schools.

Shilima reassured the public of her office’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the education system and ensuring that such fraudulent activities are thoroughly addressed.
