A suspected rapist was left injured after a woman defended herself with a panga during an alleged attempted rape incident in the Oshikweyo village of Oshana Region last week.
According to police reports, the 33-year-old man reportedly invited the woman to his house under the pretense of offering her a job to care for his children. However, upon arrival at the home on Tuesday, the woman found no children present.
Deputy Commissioner Fredrik Ndjadila confirmed that the man then allegedly dragged the woman into his room and demanded sex. When she refused, he began physically assaulting her, resulting in injuries to her cheek and hand.
In the midst of the struggle, the woman managed to seize a panga and fought back, inflicting multiple injuries on the suspect’s head and arm. Despite her resistance, the suspect allegedly proceeded to rape her.
Police arrested the man later that same day. Investigations into the matter are currently underway.
