The Bank of Namibia (BoN) will unveil a Dr. Hage G. Geingob commemorative banknote on 10 February at the Parliament Gardens in Windhoek. The launch coincides with Constitution Day and comes just over a year after the late President’s passing.
Dr. Geingob, who served as Namibia’s third President, currently appears on the N$30 legal tender alongside former Presidents Sam Nujoma and Hifikepunye Pohamba. This unique note was first introduced in 2020 to mark Namibia’s 30th independence anniversary as a once-off commemorative issue.
According to BoN, the new banknote celebrates and honours Dr. Geingob’s pivotal role in shaping Namibia’s democracy and his significant contributions to nation-building. The memorial note serves as a tribute to his legacy and his lifelong dedication to the nation.
