A young girl has been rescued from what authorities describe as an exploitative working arrangement after police responded to a tip-off from a concerned resident regarding suspected child abuse.
According to the Namibian Police, the victim was removed from the premises of her alleged employer on Friday afternoon and immediately placed in a safe environment. This intervention followed a community member’s report, which prompted an urgent investigation into the matter.
Preliminary findings by investigators indicate that the victim had been working for the suspect since February 2025. Despite being promised a monthly wage of N$500, she reportedly never received any form of payment during her time of employment.
The suspect in the case is expected to appear before the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials have confirmed that the investigation remains active and have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests.
Police have commended the public for their vigilance and encouraged citizens to continue reporting suspected cases of abuse and exploitation.
