Grammy Award-winning singer Chris Brown has been released from custody in the United Kingdom after posting a £5 million bail in connection with a 2023 nightclub assault allegation.

The 35-year-old artist was arrested in Manchester on May 15, shortly after arriving in the country for the UK leg of his highly anticipated “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour. He faces charges of grievous bodily harm stemming from an alleged incident at a London nightclub in February 2023, where he is accused of attacking a music producer with a bottle.

Brown was initially denied bail but appeared in court again on May 21, where a judge approved his release under strict conditions. These include paying the full bail amount, £4 million upfront and the remaining £1 million within seven days, surrendering his passport after the tour, and having no contact with the alleged victim or co-defendant.

Despite the legal proceedings, Brown has confirmed that his world tour will continue as planned. In a social media post following his release, he wrote, “From the cage to the stage. Breezy Bowl,” suggesting his commitment to performing for fans remains unchanged.

A plea and trial preparation hearing has been scheduled for June 20 at Southwark Crown Court. If found guilty, Brown could face up to 16 years in prison. A separate civil case is also reportedly in progress, with the alleged victim seeking financial damages.

Rapper 50 Cent was among the first to react to Chris Brown’s release, sharing his thoughts on social media: “CB out, he made bond. I’m only saying this because I think he’s the best overall artist out. I watched his whole run!”

Shortly after, Justin Bieber also showed his support by commenting “welcome home” on an Instagram photo posted by Brown, which showed the singer stepping off a private jet. Bieber and Brown have a history of collaboration on tracks like “Next to You” and “Don’t Check on Me”, with Bieber frequently acknowledging Brown’s talent and impact.

Brown’s team has yet to issue an official statement, but his return to the stage is expected to proceed uninterrupted, with the first show set for June 8 in Amsterdam.
