The City of Windhoek has confirmed that it is investigating an incident involving a municipal dump truck displaying a political party flag, an action seen as contrary to the city’s mandate of impartial service.
The matter was brought to public attention by Amushelelo, a member of the Namibian Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF), who shared on social media that he witnessed the municipal truck being used to promote a political party campaign. He reportedly requested the driver to remove the flag, but the driver allegedly refused.
In response, the City of Windhoek emphasized that it is a public institution tasked with serving all residents without political bias and confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched. The city urged residents to continue reporting any misuse of public property and reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, neutrality, and high standards of public service.
