Cornelius Willemse, previously in charge of supply and logistics at Namcor, was granted bail of N$200 000 by Windhoek Magistrate Olga Muharukua in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court earlier today. The magistrate noted that the nature of the charges does not suggest a risk of Willemse fleeing.
Willemse faces allegations of misappropriating Namcor funds related to a N$53 million payment made to Enercon Namibia under an asset agreement.
The prosecution claims that he authorised and facilitated irregular transactions, which were subsequently redirected to companies connected to Enercon and its affiliates.
