The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) will on Monday unveil its inaugural Tech Challenge, an initiative aimed at promoting innovation, digital inclusion, and youth empowerment across the country’s growing technology sector.
The competition, announced by CRAN on Sunday, invites Namibian citizens and permanent residents aged 18 to 35 to submit operational or prototype-stage technological solutions that tackle real-world problems.
Mufaro Nesongano, CRAN’s Executive for Communication and Consumer Relations, stressed the significance of youth-led innovation for the country’s future.
“Namibia’s progress in the digital economy depends on the ideas and creativity of our young people. The Tech Challenge is a platform to transform those ideas into tangible solutions,” Nesongano said.
The initiative will award a total of N$100,000 to the most promising projects, offering young innovators the opportunity to gain recognition, mentorship, and support to develop their solutions further.
CRAN’s Tech Challenge reflects a broader effort to nurture a vibrant tech ecosystem in Namibia, providing youth with the tools and platforms to contribute meaningfully to the country’s technological and economic growth.
