EFF Denies Receiving Invitation to MKP Event

Eff vs MKP

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) secretary-general Marshall Dlamini clarified that the party had not received an invitation to the MKP celebrations as previously announced.

“We did not receive an invitation and we will not attend the event,” Dlamini stated.

The MKP event is scheduled to take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday, with preparations ongoing throughout the week.

Despite Dlamini’s remarks, MKP secretary-general Floyd Shivambu indicated on Wednesday that invitations had been extended to all members of the Progressive Caucus, including the EFF. According to Shivambu, the event was an opportunity for parties to share messages of support, highlighting their shared political interests and commitment to reclaiming the country’s independence.

In a separate statement on Thursday, MKP extended its best wishes to the EFF ahead of their National People’s Assembly this weekend. The assembly will be held at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Soweto, Johannesburg.

“We commend the consistency and staying power of the Economic Freedom Fighters, who have been in existence for 11 years.

“As the Progressive Caucus, we stand united in dismantling the imperial system and will continue to fight for the reclamation of our dignity, land, mineral resources, and the nationalisation of mines.

“On the occasion of the National People’s Assembly, we would like to further express our good wishes to our partner in the progressive agenda of the total emancipation of our people,” MKP stated.

The EFF’s assembly is expected to outline the party’s future direction and leadership decisions as it marks over a decade of its existence.
