Eight children aged between four and 13 from a single household were admitted to the Rundu Intermediate Hospital on Wednesday after allegedly suffering from food poisoning.
According to reports, the children had eaten rice that their aunt had warmed and served to them earlier in the day. Shortly after eating, the youngest child began vomiting, while the others complained of severe stomach cramps.
The family immediately rushed the children to Nkarapama Clinic in Safari, where they were later transferred by ambulance to the Rundu Intermediate Hospital for further care.
Medical staff administered charcoal to help induce vomiting, and all eight children are currently admitted for observation. Two of the children, who are twins, are reported to be in more serious condition.
Health authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the suspected food poisoning.
