Fifteen head of cattle belonging to a 78-year-old pensioner were stolen from a kraal at Tubusis in the Karibib district during a late-night raid last Thursday.
According to Erongo deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the theft occurred between 23h00 and midnight, when unknown suspects allegedly cut through the kraal’s fence and drove the cattle away without the owner’s knowledge.
Police investigations revealed that 12 of the stolen cattle were later recovered alive, while two were found slaughtered. One animal remains unaccounted for.
No arrests have been made so far, and the Erongo police are still pursuing the suspects.
Police have urged members of the public to assist in the investigation by reporting any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
