A 28-year-old female student from the Atlantic Institution was violently assaulted and robbed on the night of Sunday, August 24, 2025, near the Ministry of Home Affairs buildings in Oshakati East.
According to police reports, the victim had accepted a ride from Ongwediva to Oshakati in a white sedan bearing. Inside the vehicle were two male passengers and a female in the front seat. After dropping off the female passenger at the NBC building, another man boarded the vehicle, leaving the victim as the only woman among four men.
The situation escalated when one suspect covered the victim’s mouth while another held a knife to her throat. A third man forcibly removed her wig and stole her dark blue Samsung Galaxy cellphone and N$200 in cash. The driver then physically assaulted her before pushing her out of the moving vehicle.
Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, but investigations are ongoing. Authorities are also working to verify the authenticity of the car’s license plate.
The Namibian Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid accepting rides from strangers, especially at night. Anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle involved is encouraged to contact the nearest police station immediately.
