The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested former Omaruru mayor and Swapo Party candidate for the upcoming Regional Council elections, Hendrina “Tuliki” Gerberhardt.
According to the ACC, Gerberhardt was taken into custody on Monday afternoon as part of an ongoing corruption investigation. She is also the acting principal of Omaruru Secondary School and serves on the board of Erongo RED.
Although the exact charges have not yet been revealed, sources familiar with the matter say the arrest could be connected to alleged irregularities that took place during her time as mayor.
Gerberhardt is expected to appear in the Uis Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. The ACC says more information will be shared once investigations progress further.
This is a developing story, and updates will follow as new details emerge.
