A coordinated police operation in Windhoek has led to the recovery of four vehicles and a significant haul of stolen household items believed to be connected to a string of burglaries and robberies across the city.
According to the Khomas Police, the breakthrough came after days of intensified investigations that targeted known criminal hideouts in areas such as Greenwell Matongo, Wanaheda, Ombili, Oshitenda, Babylon, and Damara Location. The recovered vehicles include three Mazda Demios and one Volkswagen Golf GT, all suspected to have been used or stolen during recent crimes.
Police confirmed that the operation was part of a broader effort to dismantle syndicates responsible for housebreak-ins in the capital. Several suspects were arrested earlier this week in Rocky Crest, where officers also confiscated stolen property and fake number plates believed to be used to disguise the vehicles.
Chief Inspector Katrina Nashikaku, head of the Khomas Police Community Affairs Sub-Division, said officers worked through Wednesday night into Thursday morning, leading to more discoveries and an additional arrest. This brings the total number of suspects in custody to four.
Recovered items include women’s personal belongings, electronic appliances, and various household accessories. Police believe the same group may be linked to multiple burglary cases under investigation.
Authorities have urged residents who may have recently fallen victim to theft to visit the Otjomuise Police Station to help identify and reclaim their property. Investigations into the matter continue as police work to trace more stolen goods and apprehend remaining suspects.
