Frustrated Shalulile Wants Out as Espérance Table Offer

Shalulile Wants Out as Espérance Table Offer

Namibian international striker Peter Shalulile remains contracted to Mamelodi Sundowns after recently extending his stay with the club for a further two years. However, the forward is reportedly open to exploring opportunities elsewhere amid reduced game time under coach Miguel Cardoso.

According to sources close to the player, Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis have shown keen interest in acquiring Shalulile’s services. The North African club is believed to have tabled an initial bid of R13 million, which was turned down by Sundowns, who are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to R16 million.

Despite the ongoing negotiations, Shalulile is said to be personally advocating for a reduced transfer fee, hoping to increase the value of his personal package in any potential move. The 30-year-old forward recently returned to Namibia but is expected back in South Africa this week as discussions continue behind the scenes.

The former Highlands Park star is understood to be frustrated by his limited minutes on the pitch this season, which has prompted his desire for a fresh challenge. Notably, Shalulile is just two goals shy of surpassing Siyabonga Nomvethe’s all-time PSL goal-scoring record a milestone that adds urgency to his quest for consistent playing time.

Should the move materialize, Shalulile would bring vast experience and a proven scoring record to Espérance, having been a crucial part of Sundowns’ domestic and continental campaigns in recent years.

The coming days are expected to be critical as both clubs weigh the financial and sporting aspects of the potential transfer.
