Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah has announced that the government will allocate N$12.3 billion to Health and Social Services for the 2025/26 financial year. Over the next few years, a total of N$37.5 billion will be spent under the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). This is a major step to improve the country’s healthcare system.
A large part of the budget, N$780 million for 2025/26 and N$2.7 billion over the MTEF, will be used to build more hospitals and health facilities. The aim is to reduce overcrowding in state hospitals, which remains a big problem.
Apart from infrastructure, the budget also focuses on improving the quality of healthcare. The government plans to hire more health workers and ensure that hospitals have enough medicine and medical supplies to serve the growing population.
