Efforts to expand information and communication technology (ICT) access in underserved regions received a major boost as the Government announced funding for the construction of new Radio Access Network (RAN) sites. These sites aim to enhance connectivity and improve access to mobile and broadcasting services across remote and previously unserved areas.
The announcement was made by Linda Aipinge-Nakale, interim Executive Director of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, during the quarterly Chief Regional Officers’ engagement held on Monday in Katima Mulilo.
The meeting provided a platform for regional leaders to strengthen collaboration, align on decentralisation efforts, and receive updates on key initiatives led by the Ministry. According to Aipinge-Nakale, the expansion of RAN sites is part of the Government’s broader strategy to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to ICT infrastructure nationwide.
