The 19-year-old man accused of brutally murdering his grandparents at Oniihwa B village in the Oshikoto Region made his first court appearance in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon.
The suspect, identified as Stefanus Tangeni Shali Shiimi, appeared before Magistrate Nelao Ya France, where the charges were read to him with the help of an interpreter. He confirmed his identity and said he understood Oshiwambo.
The State prosecutor, Tony Bock, strongly opposed bail, citing the seriousness of the crime and concerns that Shiimi might flee if released.
The case was postponed to 20 April 2026 to allow for further police investigations.
Shiimi allegedly killed his grandparents, Josua Shiimi (87) and Martha Nangombe (68), after accusing them of bewitching him.
