Two inmates detained at the Rundu Police Station are claiming they were assaulted by police officers after asking to be taken for medical attention on Thursday.
According to a family member, the inmates had complained of feeling unwell and requested medical care. The request reportedly led to an altercation involving two warrant officers and one constable, during which the inmates allegedly sustained body injuries.
The family member said the two men have visible wounds and are seeking medical assistance following the incident.
However, Rundu Police Station commander, Chief Inspector Hermine Muranda, denied any report of an assault or confrontation. She explained that officers conducted a routine holding cell search on Thursday and that no violence was reported during the operation.
The matter is yet to be officially investigated, as concerns grow among family members over the alleged mistreatment of the detainees.
