IPC Calls for Peaceful Protest as Court Case on Election Results Continues

IPC

The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) is urging all Namibians to join a peaceful protest this Friday, organized by the party’s Khomas regional leadership. The demonstration aims to demand a fair and transparent judgment in the ongoing court case challenging the results of Namibia’s presidential and National Assembly elections held last November.

The IPC has filed two court cases, calling for the results of the elections to be declared invalid and set aside. The party claims that there were irregularities that affected the fairness and integrity of the election process.

In light of these developments, the Inspector General of Namibia Police (Nampol), Joseph Shikongo, has called on the public to remain calm and maintain peace during this tense period. Shikongo highlighted that some members of the public, particularly on social media and in the diaspora, have issued threats to cause violence depending on the outcome of the case.

Nampol, according to Shikongo, is fully prepared to maintain peace and order throughout the ongoing legal proceedings, emphasizing that all options are available to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

The outcome of the case is highly anticipated, as it could have significant implications on the political landscape of Namibia. As the protest draws near, both the IPC and Nampol are urging peaceful conduct and respect for the rule of law.
