The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has decided not to take up the position of Leader of the Official Opposition in Parliament. The party’s president, Dr. Panduleni Itula, stated that the role has no legal foundation and is unconstitutional.
Dr. Itula made this announcement during an event where the IPC introduced its shadow cabinet members. He explained that instead of accepting the position, the party will focus on keeping the government accountable through its own systems.
According to Dr. Itula, IPC’s representatives in Parliament will serve as a dedicated accountability team. Their main task will be to monitor and challenge the actions of government ministers, similar to how a shadow cabinet operates.
