Walvis Bay Rural constituency councillor Donatus Tegako has denied allegations of corruption following his suspension from the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC).
The IPC confirmed in a formal notice, signed by spokesperson Imms Nashinge, that Tegako has been instructed not to act on behalf of the party in any capacity while an internal investigation is underway. According to the letter, the suspension takes effect immediately.
The party’s leadership has resolved to establish a disciplinary committee, in accordance with its constitution, to assess Tegako’s alleged involvement in financial misconduct. Reports suggest that the matter centres around the suspected mismanagement of more than N$30,000 in public funds, though the IPC has not provided detailed information on the claims.
When approached for comment, Tegako distanced himself from the allegations, stressing that he had no prior knowledge of being under investigation until recently. “I want the truth to come out. I was not aware of any such matter until last week,” he stated.
Despite the suspension, Tegako said he continues to serve his community with integrity, adding that the case is now before the court and he is prepared to clear his name through due legal process.
