The Ministry of Health and Social Services has received three fully equipped ambulances from the Government of Japan to boost emergency healthcare in Namibia.
Speaking at the handover, Dr. Theo-Ben Kandetu highlighted the donation as more than a diplomatic gesture, calling it an investment in the wellbeing and dignity of Namibians. Health Minister Dr. Esperance Luvindao emphasized that the vehicles symbolize “hope, urgency, and the ability to save lives when every second matters.”
The ambulances will be allocated to underserved regions, complementing the 36 units the Ministry recently commissioned to expand access to emergency services. With vast distances and limited infrastructure in many rural areas, the new fleet is expected to cut response times and improve healthcare delivery nationwide.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to Japan for its continued support and reaffirmed its commitment to deploying the ambulances where they are needed most.
