Katutura Man Burn to Death in Shack Fire While Cooking – The Updated World

A 52-year-old man tragically lost his life after his shack caught fire in the early hours of Sunday morning in Katutura, Windhoek.

The deceased, identified as Edward Simbo, was burned beyond recognition during the incident, which occurred around 05:00 in Paul Mogagabe Street, according to the Namibian Police weekend crime bulletin.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire started while Simbo was cooking meat inside his shack. The blaze quickly engulfed the structure, leaving him with no chance to escape.

In addition to the devastating loss of life, a grey Polo vehicle parked near the shack sustained damage to its front bumper due to the intense heat.

Police have confirmed that the next of kin have been informed. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire.
