Sensitive information from Telecom Namibia’s leaked database, now circulating on the dark web, reportedly includes personal details of high-ranking government officials such as President Nangolo Mbumba, Justice Minister Yvonne Dausab, and Minister of International Relations Peya Mushelenga, among others.

Telecom Namibia CEO Stanley Shanapinda has issued a stern warning to the public against distributing the stolen data. “This is stolen data, and sharing it is committing a crime,” Shanapinda said in an interview with a local media outlet. He emphasized the illegality of sharing such information and urged everyone to respect the law.

Health and Social Services Minister Kalumbi Shangula expressed deep concern over the breach, stating that it has left him and others feeling vulnerable. “Nobody can feel safe because you don’t know what they (hackers) can do with the information. There are many ways that they can use the information. It’s just terrible,” Shangula said.

The leaked data, reportedly containing a wealth of sensitive personal details, has raised alarms about the potential misuse of the information and underscored the importance of cybersecurity in Namibia.
