Lukato Calls for N$5000 Monthly Grant for Pensioners

The debate over the amount of money given to elderly people as a grant is still ongoing among political parties. Many believe the promised N$3000 is not enough.

Today, politician Martin Lukato suggested that pensioners should receive N$5000 each month. He said that helping the elderly should be a top priority.

“The N$3000 that was promised is too small to cover their basic needs. I suggest N$5000 for senior citizens for the next two financial years. The amount can start with an increase to N$3000 in the 2025/2026 financial year,” Lukato said in his first speech.

He also recommended that other social groups should receive N$3000, starting with an increase to N$2000 in the same financial year.

Recently, the President stated that the elderly will have to wait for their increase, as the government is currently focusing on helping the youth.
