A 28-year-old man from Canchana village in Kavango West has been arrested on charges of attempted murder after he allegedly assaulted his 30-year-old cousin with a wooden stick on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred on 28 September 2025 at around 20h00 at a local cucashop, where both men were reportedly drinking. According to police chief inspector Raimbert Muronga, the suspect repeatedly struck the victim all over his body, leaving him with severe injuries, including a swollen face and eyes.

“The victim was rushed to Nankudu District Hospital and later transferred to Rundu State Hospital in an unconscious condition,” Muronga confirmed.

Police said both the suspect and the victim were heavily intoxicated when the violent altercation broke out. The accused remains in custody as investigations into the matter continue.
