Man Kills Wife, Injures Daughter Before Taking Own Life

Greenwell Matongo Man Kills Wife, Injures Daughter Before Taking Own Life – The Updated World

A devastating domestic incident rocked the Greenwell Matongo residential area in the early hours of Saturday, leaving two adults dead and a teenage girl injured in what police have described as a suspected murder-suicide.

The tragedy unfolded shortly after 01:30 at a residence on Ermina Street, where 53-year-old Alweendo David allegedly shot and killed his wife, Elizabeth Nepando Hambelela Alweendo, aged 43, before turning the gun on himself.

According to the Namibian Police, the couple’s 18-year-old daughter told authorities that she was in her bedroom with her six-year-old brother when she heard their mother cry out for help. On rushing to investigate, she found both her parents near the door her father allegedly armed.

A confrontation reportedly ensued, escalating into a struggle between the couple in the sitting room. During the chaos, the daughter was hit in the thigh by a stray bullet while seeking cover in the kitchen. She managed to crawl back to her room to call for help, but before she could act, two more gunshots were heard.

When she returned after contacting a relative, she found her mother lying in a pool of blood in the sitting room, while her father was unresponsive on their bed.

City of Windhoek emergency personnel pronounced both adults dead at approximately 02:36. Their daughter was rushed to Katutura State Hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition. The six-year-old child was unharmed during the incident.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting are ongoing.
