Manchester United will be boosted by the availability of Casemiro and Amad Diallo when they take on Sunderland on Saturday, following their absence in the defeat against Brentford.
Casemiro returns after serving a one-match suspension, having been dismissed for two bookable offences in the clash with Chelsea. Diallo, who has featured this season both as a No.10 and at wing-back, re-joins the squad after being given time off due to a family bereavement.
Speaking to MUTV, head coach Amorim welcomed their return, describing the pair as “really important” players. He highlighted Casemiro’s experience and Diallo’s ability to challenge opponents one-on-one as key assets that United missed last weekend.
Injury concerns remain, however. Lisandro Martinez is still undergoing rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury, while Noussair Mazraoui is expected to be sidelined until after the upcoming international break.
Meanwhile, Amorim has come under criticism from pundits, including Gary Neville, regarding his tactical setup and the limited opportunities for younger players. The Portuguese coach has defended his approach, maintaining that tactics are not the primary issue behind United’s inconsistent performances.
