Godfrey Ngaisiue has stepped down from his position as a board member of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor), less than 13 months after his appointment. His resignation, confirmed this week, comes at a time when the state-owned oil company’s leadership is under increasing scrutiny.
While the exact reasons behind Ngaisiue’s departure have not been publicly disclosed, it follows growing speculation about possible changes at the top. Recent media reports have indicated that Minister of Mines and Energy, Natangwe Ithete, is allegedly considering the dismissal of the entire Namcor board.
Ngaisiue, who officially joined the board on 1 July 2024, has not yet issued a statement regarding his resignation. The development adds to the uncertainty surrounding Namcor’s governance and comes amid broader calls for improved accountability and transparency within Namibia’s energy sector.
